The Trust for Public Land Park

Location:

Dallas, TX

Year:

2019

On the first day of June 2019, you would’ve been able to find us in Southeast Oak Cliff, working with Trust for Public Land to build the community a park that they had been requesting for over twenty-five years. The site was a lonely, somewhat overgrown patch of land used to dump tires. With the help of the Groundwork Dallas, a local nonprofit dedicated to improving the natural spaces, the area was cleared and mulched to create enough open space to allow neighbors to convene. We put up swing sets, benches, and planters constructed from the orphaned tires that we painted in pretty pastels. We build and decorated a bandshell to entertain the neighbors and students from Northeast Oak Cliff High School who came to enjoy their new park.
