Teams in Dallas created the first “Better Bridge” project, taking 2 lanes of a 4-lane bridge, and converting them to a pedestrian and bicycle esplanade. Council members, community stakeholders and more showed up for the day to experience the revisioned bridge. Planted barriers, historic lighting, landscaping, and street furniture were added to the bridge to create a destination that welcomed 8 to 80 years olds on a span that for half-a-century was too unsafe for pedestrians to linger and take in the amazing views of the Great Trinity Forest.

The Dallas Observer wrote a great piece complete with photos on the project here.
