HighLine Inspired “Better Bridge” Project heading to Dallas

On October 22nd, the first “Better Bridge” project will take place Dallas, Texas where two auto lanes of the Cedar Crest Bridge (which connects South Dallas to East Oak Cliff) will be converted into a large pedestrian and bike esplanade complete with landscaping, seating, historical markers, and more. The project is being developed to test the potential to permanently readapt the bridge and create a destination which links both sides of the river, while providing access to the Trinity Trail. New York’s HighLine and Austin’s Lady Bird pedestrian bridge are inspirations for the initiative. LandscapeForms will be helping pull this project together alongside Team Better Block.

Bike Friendly Oak Cliff’s “Hit the Road Jack” History Group ride of Ray Charles’ South Dallas will cross the bridge as part of the tour. More details on the ride here, and on facebook here.
