Ross Avenue to be turned into a pedestrian “Ross Ramblas” on June 26th

Las Ramblas, Barcelona, Spain

The Dallas Complete Streets plan is under way, and Team Better Block is working with the city to create a series of demonstration projects to show the potential for road redevelopment. The first project is set to take place on Ross Avenue, the “gateway to the Arts District”, where the area currently lacks a strong pedestrian form. Inspired by the great road “Las Ramblas” in Barcelona, Spain, we’ll be creating our own version we’re dubbing “Ross Ramblas”. The demonstration will take place on Sunday, June 26th, from 11AM to 4PM, and the Deep Ellum Market folks are helping us create a great market within the street’s center. We’ll also be developing a series of bike lane demonstrations leading up to the area to show the potential for multi-modal access into Downtown Dallas. A kickoff/press conference will take place at Three Sheets restaurant at 1PM. This project will all fall inside the boundaries of the 72 Hour Build a Better Boulevard Challenge as well. The Dallas Observer recently covered the project here. More details to come!
